Who we are

Kentucky Lien & Title is a trade name of Lien Nation LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company. We prepare vehicle lien and title documents and manage statutory deadlines for towing, storage, and repair facilities. Our client signs and files every document. We do not take custody of vehicles, hold funds, or provide legal advice.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and who we share it with. It covers this website and our document preparation service.

Mobile information

If you sign up for our case alert texts, we keep your mobile number, the wording of the consent you agreed to, and the date, method, and source of that consent, so we can show that you asked to hear from us. We use the number only to send you the messages described in our text message terms. It is never sold, rented, or passed to anyone else for their own marketing. You can leave the program at any time by replying STOP.

Information we collect from our clients

• Business contact details — your name, business name, address, phone numbers, email address, and role at the facility.
• Case information — vehicle year, make, model, VIN, license plate, tow or drop-off date, lot location, storage and service charges, tow tickets, work orders, and photographs you send us.
• Billing information — invoices, amounts, and payment records. Card numbers are entered directly with our payment processor and never touch our systems.
• Website use — basic server logs, including IP address and pages requested, kept for security and troubleshooting.

Vehicle owner and lienholder information

To prepare statutory notices we obtain the names and addresses of registered owners and lienholders from state motor vehicle records and from national title record searches. We treat this as protected personal information.

We request and use these records only for permitted purposes under the federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. §2721 — specifically, to carry out a towing or storage lien and title transfer for the facility that holds the vehicle. We do not use these records for marketing, resell them, or disclose them except as the statutory process requires: to the owner and lienholder themselves, to the county clerk, to a newspaper for the required advertisement, and to our client.

How we use information

• To prepare, track, and deliver notices, advertisements, affidavits, and title packets
• To calculate and monitor statutory deadlines
• To communicate with you about your cases by phone, email, and — if you opted in — text message
• To invoice you and collect payment
• To maintain records of what was sent and when, which is the evidentiary backbone of the lien process

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.

Service providers

We use a small number of vendors to run the service. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and each is bound to use it only for that purpose:

• Certified and first-class mail — printing and mailing statutory notices, and returning delivery evidence
• Email delivery — sending case correspondence and status summaries
• Text messaging — delivering case alert texts to numbers that opted in
• Payments — processing card and bank payments for our fees
• Newspapers and county clerks — receiving the advertisement and filing content that Kentucky law requires be published or filed

Other disclosures

We may disclose information when the law requires it — a subpoena, court order, or lawful request from a government agency — or where disclosure is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim, or to protect someone's safety. If Lien Nation LLC is sold or merged, client records may transfer to the successor, which would remain bound by this policy.

How long we keep records

Case files, including the notices we sent and the proof of delivery, are retained for at least seven years after a case closes. These records are what protect the facility if the lien or sale is later challenged. Mobile numbers and opt-in records are kept for as long as you are enrolled, and for a period afterward sufficient to demonstrate that consent existed and that an opt-out was honored.

Security

Access to our systems requires authentication and is limited to personnel who need it. Data in transit is encrypted. Vehicle owner records are stored separately from general business records. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise, but we treat these records as sensitive because they are.

Your choices

• Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving texts
• Use the unsubscribe link in any non-transactional email
• Ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by writing to the address below

Some records we are obligated to retain even after a request to delete, because they form the statutory record supporting a lien or title transfer.

Children

This is a business-to-business service. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the current version.
